3 Best Things About Venice

We made it to the weekend!  I hope you all have big plans. John finally comes back tonight so we’ll have celebrating.  And by celebrating, I mean he’ll be recovering from jetlag and will be sleeping A LOT,  and I’ll probably catch up on emails, laundry and all the fun stuff.  Don’t be jelly! 😉  In all seriousness, it will be nice to hang out at home and just catch a breathe for a minute as a family.

But if you’re in the LA area and looking for some fun things to do, I wanted to share my favorite places around Venice.  Venice has become quite the mecca for the hipster and fashion forward locals in the last couple of years, and I love making the trip from Orange County when I can.  Its not often, but when I do, I make sure to hit up my favorite places.  Here are a few must-sees:

Venice Canals

Strolling through the picturesque canals brings me back to my favorite destination, Italy.  I am always amazed that behind busy LA streets and Venice Boardwalk, there is something so unique that transports you to another place completely.  I love talking walks through the 2 canal blocks and spot the most charming beach houses.  A must-see wherever you are in LA.

Abbott Kinney Blvd.

This street is the best to stroll through for a bite to eat, a coffee break or window shop at some of the stylish boutiques in the city (like Cuyana, Current/Elliott, and Alexis Bittar).  My favorite restaurant for dinner is the Tasting Kitchen, and I never leave Venice before stopping into Shuhari Matcha Cafe.  The green ice tea and the matcha ice cream is to die for!

The @LikeToKnow.It He(art) Wall

Its hard to resist a good mural wall in LA.  Good thing for us, RewardStyle’s @LikeToKnow.it gifted us with one of their best installation of street art in Venice as part of their cross country city tour.  They started in Dallas (RewardStyle’s US home city) then headed to Austin, London and they just debuted their 5th city, Chicago!  Venice is their 4th city and I might be biased, but this He(art) wall might be my favorite. 🙂 If you want to check it out, head to 228 Main Street, Venice, CA).

I wore this look to my last visit to Venice, and its hard to describe how much I love this velvet skirt. The vibrant color automatically brightens my mood, and the velvet makes this skirt a perfect Fall transition piece.  I am excited to pair it with a leather jacket and booties once the weather cools down!  My lace top is also a good staple to have in your closet.  Its easy to pull it out with jeans or a dressier skirt like this pleated one.

Have a great weekend!
