I love Thanksgiving because it is truly a season when we give more time and attention to express gratitude for all our blessings. Even when it gets busy, the spirit of the holiday makes it so that we are willing to prioritize time together and making memories. It is one of the few times we honor and appreciate traditions. We have a lot of family in town so the holidays are especially special for us. For Thanksgiving, we get to spend time with everyone, from all sides, catching up, having fun and taking part in any (and all) longtime family traditions.
Our yearly family photos are almost as exciting as the holidays for me. And I know I might be the minority in my family, but luckily John and Jax plays along (to a degree). Holiday portraits mark a passage of another year and document the growth of little J. And for the last couple years our portraits have also showcased our amazing travels. Two years ago, we took photos in Paris and last year Verona, Italy.
Next to Christmas, this is the happiest of time of year for a lot of us moms….because 1) our little slices of heaven GO BACK TO SCHOOL, and 2) Back-to-school shopping and 3) we get to get fully ready before 10am! The last one is particularly exciting because for a moment each day, we get to look like we actually have our *ish together at drop-off…well, most days at least!
Hope you all had a great weekend! We’ve had a busy Summer and Aug is going to even busier, so this weekend we just soaked up family time and stayed close to home. I’m beginning to cherish those days more and more as our lives get crazier with work and family obligations.
As a family, we’ve traveled to many wonderful places. But I realized some of the best ones are close to home. Orange County is one of those amazing destinations with lots of mini destinations within, and all beautiful and picturesque in its own right. Fortunately, our favorite family date destinations are less than an hour drive.
One of my goals this year for Jetting Jewels is to share more on mom life. When Jax as a newborn, he was a constant here. Its gotten more difficult to get him to cooperate with blogger life. ha! And sometimes I still struggle with how much of him I should share on such an […]
Confession – My holiday cards never made it out this year. I procrastinated, procrastinated, then rushed to design something, then procrastinated again, then thought…f* it! I’ll do better next year. We did take our holiday photos this year in Verona, Italy and absolutely love how they came out. It’s always such a crazy mess and […]
