Momlife Update

Its been awhile since I shared on update on Jaxson.  The Summer was a bit insane for us, and Jax has been busy growing up into such a big boy.  Literally big!  He’s a brick and in the +95th percentile in both weight and height!

In the last few months…

  1. His vocabulary and speech has increased so much, and of course even more when he started pre-school.  He picks up basically everything things he hears and its surprising to me how much he understands and remembers.  He’ll repeat things I said weeks ago with such confidence.  His favorite thing to do is demonstrate….because he obviously thinks he knows more than me.  He says, “mama, eat snack LIKE THIS (while stuffing his face for popcorn)!”, “mama, we walk LIKE THAT (while walking silly)”, “mama, boy fall down LIKE THIS (telling me his friend got an ouchie).”  I just love how his little mind works.
  2. We are potty trained!  We did the 3 day boot camp style training and kept him naked for 99% of time.  I was skeptical at first, but it really works!  I am a fan of cold turkey type of training for anything.  No need to draw out the misery, am I right.  Just get it done!  Day 1 was a nightmare and we were constantly sitting on the toilet.  Day 2 I thought we wouldn’t make it.  I debated quitting so many times.  But by day 3, it seemed like a light clicked in him and he was REALLY getting it.  That third day we had no accidents.  The following few days we were extra careful and asked him if he needed to go potty a million times, but were able to finally leave the house.  3 days locked up at home felt like an eternity, especially when your days revolve around peepee and poo!  Accidents are inevitable (he had one during dinner at a restaurant, and at church in front of SOOO many people….which was lovely).  But now accidents rarely happen.  After potty-training, I felt like I could do anything. ha!
  3. We started preschool! And he loves it!  We decided to put him in a Montessori program since I heard so many great things, and its true.  I am so impressed by his development! He loves his teachers which makes me feel so good.  When I was in NYC, school didn’t go well (he cried everyday and had so many potty accidents!), but as soon as I returned, I think he had a better sense of security and normalcy and all was well with the world again!  He even asks to go to school on the weekends! Just wait till you have homework, kid.

That’s it for now.  My goal to do more momlife posts, at least once a week. So if there are any topics related to motherhood or Jax you’d like to hear more about, definitely let me know!

A quick shout out to our favorite stroller the Baby Jogger City Select LUX. I just got the shopping tote (attached to the front) and it is ah-mazing!  I love having more room to place bags, drinks and random necessities we seem to pick up through the day.  This stroller is definitely one of our most useful gear.  And I know we’ll use it for everrrr!  Baby Jogger was also kind enough to send us that bench seat attachment as well, which will definitely come in handy once we have more kids!

Now we’re off to plan a big birthday party for my guy! I’m trying to NOT go overboard, but I know I will fail miserably.  🙂
