New Hair with Aveda

One thing about me that many may not know is that I actually hate getting my hair cut.  Don’t get me wrong, I always love the outcome – fresh locks, healthy, bouncy and super shiny.  But I never really do anything of real significance. I usually just get a trim, nothing pass my lower shoulders ( you can blame my mom and a bowl cut for the fear of short hair!) and some light layers.  But I think what I was missing in my life was the perfect salon experience.

When Aveda first invited me to one of their lifestyle salons, I had no idea what I was in for.  There are numerous Aveda affiliated salons around the nation, and if you’re lucky, a Lifestyle salon is near you.  These salons are decked out with an inviting luxurious spa and full retail store to pick up all my favorite goodies. I had the privilege of visiting the Lux Salon in Fullerton and loved every minute to it.  My only regret was not booking a spa service the same day!

As I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the signature Aveda scent and the nicest people around.  My stylist, Cassandra, was knowledgeable, friendly and so chic.  We ended up doing my normal trim with long layers, but added a gloss.  I’m a gloss first-timer but had heard it would lock in a rich natural color and keep my hair looking healthy so I went for it.  And so far so good!  The cut and gloss was great, but I think the best part was getting a shoulder/neck and hand/arm massage. I mean, who doesn’t need a mid morning mini massage…always!  The stylist even touched up my make up before sending me off.  Is that service or what?

If you’re in the OC, definitely go see Cassandra.  We bonded over dry shampoo and the rest is history as they say.  I already made an appointment to see her again!  I might be daring and cut above my shoulders next time…*gasp*!  If you’re elsewhere, you can find a list of all Aveda salons here.
