Playdate with OSMO

Thank you to OSMO for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

Hope you all had a great weekend!  We’ve had a busy Summer and Aug is going to even busier, so this weekend we just soaked up family time and stayed close to home.  I’m beginning to cherish those days more and more as our lives get crazier with work and family obligations.

Although I have to say, its not easy to keep an active 2 and a half year old occupied at home.  Especially with the heat we’ve been having, its been difficult to find things to do outside except the pool.  Luckily we were recently introduced to OSMO.  OSMO creates toys that combines the desire for constant digital entertainment and physical play, which is so important for growing kids.  I am definitely guilty of letting Jaxson play on his iPad for far too long.  Come to think of it, how insane is it that at 2 years old even has his very own iPad.  For me, OSMO takes the guilt away from screen time.  He’s learning and thinks he’s watching YouTube….the ultimate mom magic! 🙂

We just hook up his iPad to the OSMO base, connect to the corresponding apps and Jaxson is able to play educational games like Words and Numbers. I love that these OSMO games are teaching him new letters and numbers, but also improving his motor skills and memorization as he matches the things on screen to the tiles in front of him.  He is constantly engaged which I find so hard at this age.  We just started the Tangram game together. He is a bit too young to play on his own, but he tries!  He loves the colors and shapes of the puzzle pieces, but its a fun one for us to play together.

We also have the Creative Set which includes Monster.  This is actually a favorite of my niece Paige (10 years old).  The set includes a creative board and dry erase markers.  Kids simply draw what they want or what Mo the Monster tells them to and drawings will be magically pulled into the OSMO world on screen.

There are so many other games, like Pizza Co. and Newton, we can’t wait to try!  I think OSMO will be a great travel companion on airplanes too, so if you have Summer vacations lined up, definitely bring  OSMO along!

We have the original Osmo set and I can’t believe how awesome all this new stuff for it looks. My daughter has been wanting the Coding and Creative Set.
