Post Brow Microblade Skincare

Most of you guys know I got my brows microbladed, and maybe caught a sneak peek of my fresh eyebrows on Snapchat and Insta Stories.  Two weeks in, I really love them!  I have to touch up a couple spots here in there but most of that should be taken care of at the follow up visit.  They look so natural, and with lash extensions added, I feel like I got a facelift or something.  Admittedly, I kinda love looking at them in the mirror.  ha!
Natalie, from the Beauty Bungalow, who did my brows sent me away with a long list of after care directions.  And the most daunting thing to me was not getting liquids or water near the microbladed area fro 7-19 days.  I mean, what?!  For someone who double cleanses and practically scrubs the first layer of skin when I remove makeup at night, the idea of not getting apprx 1/3 of my face was impossible.  But I had no choice.  So I researched and came up with the new routine that was minimal, gentle and effective! When I say “minimal” I really mean bare minimum.  My skin and makeup routine has been slashed to just a handful of products and it to my surprise it has been amazing.  My skin actually looks way better – clearer, smoother and vibrant – and I’m saving so much valuable time in the mornings by eliminating like 20 products before I head out the door.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s a quick summary and  roundup of the products I’m using on a daily basis.
Nighttime Skincare
Cleanse: Clinique Cleansing Wipes – I searched high and low for the best cleansing wipe, and bought a couple to try out, but these Clinique wipes definitely took the cake for me.  The actual wipes are soft and thick.  At night, I use like 3 of them! ha.  I told ya I was a ferocious cleanser. 🙂  I wet the first wipe to add moister and helps breakdown the makeup. And the second and third to ensure I get every last bit of makeup off.
Now that water is allowed near my face, I actually still use the Clinique wipes as the initial step. I really feel like incorporating wipes into my cleansing routine has helped
d brighten my complexion.  I am definitely not giving it up!
Toner: Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Toner – I got this toner awhile back but still had a full bottle of my old toner so I held off on trying it.  But I worried that not cleansing with water would leave my skin sticky and mildewy, I want dot enlist a heavy duty toner.  And I am so impressed with the Umbrian Clay toner.  It looks like it have clay particles and residue in the product so it comes out grey, which is interesting to say the least. But when you get past the color, you feels really good.  I like the slight tingle and the mattified look on my skin upon application.
Perfecting Liquid: Paula’s Choice 2% BHA  – Again, I was nervous the lack of liquid cleanser would leave my skin dirty and would negatively impact my skin, so I added a concentrated product to help unclog pores and provide extra exfoliation.  I have heard great things about Paula’s Choice “Skin Perfecting” liquid and I can see why! It almost gives my skin a smoother look immediately after I apply.  It adds a sheen once I apply to my skin, and light like a traditional toner.  While not meant to necessarily replace serum, I did mainly because I couldn’t find a good oil-free serum that I liked. I’ve been using this daily in the evenings, and love the results!
Eyebrow Ointment: Aquaphor – This was the ointment Natalie gave me along with the after care instructions.  It works well to keep the microbladed area moisterize.  Dryness can cause more scabbing and thus more color to come off, so I applied this twice a day to keep the brows in good shape!
After these steps, I continue to use my usual moisturizer (La Mer Moisturizing Soft Cream), making sure to keep away from the brow area.
Daytime Face
In the mornings, I’ll do a light cleanse with just one Clinique cleansing wipe to refreshen up my skin before I apply any products. Then I go through just a couple basic steps….
Tinted Moisturizer: I’ve been using the La Mer Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 for years, usually just on no make-up days since it has the SPF protection.  But I wanted to keep my makeup minimal since the I couldn’t truly clean with water, so I skipped my traditional SPF cream and foundation and stuck to one product that does both.  While the coverage is light, it really is all I need.
Beauty Blender: I applied the La Mer moisturizer with my trusty Beauty Blender to really get the SPF coverage well throughout my face.
Touch Up Compact: If I need more coverage or a touch-up of make up, I always have It Cosmetics CC+ Powder compact in my bag.  Again, I love that it has both coverage and SPF.  I can’t tell you how much I love this stuff!
Blush & Lipgloss (not pictured): With my brows done, lashes full and SPF tinted moisturizer, all I need was a touch of blush and lipgloss…and voila!  I was done and ready for the day. It literally cut the time to get ready by 80%.  Its amazing!
I know my routine will evolve as I get more comfortable with the care of my brows.  But for now, I am so happy with all these products and my overall time-saving routine! I will keep you posted on my brows after the touch-up session.
