Pregnancy Q&A – 3rd Trimester

I am due this week, and I am just finally getting around to do a Q&A.  Sorry guys!  I get a ton of pregnancy related questions on Direct Message and I so wish I could answer them all!  So I thought I would completely the most frequently asked questions and answer them here.  This way, my responses can be a bit more thorough and clear!

Are you planning to have more since you’re having 2 boys? – We only planned to have 2, but I say never say never. 🙂  If we really wanted to have a girl, I think we would adopt one more.  Those are bigger plans that we’ve submitted to God so we will see if more is in His plan for us.

How do you continue to wear regular jeans/pants so late in your pregnancy? – I use the Bellaband over my unbutton/unzipped pants. I have them in white and black.  Honestly, some days regular pants and jeans are just too uncomfortable even withe the bellaband so I don’t wear them all the time.

What am I packing in my hospital bag?  I will have a post with all the deets next week!  Yes, late!  But only because I have even finished packing yet and know I’m still missing a couple key items.

What am I doing to prevent stretch marks? – 2 things I swear by…water and Mama Mio Tummy Rub Oil.  I drink about 150 oz. of water every day, and apply the oil twice a day (morning and night). I also make sure to rub the oil immediately after I get out of the shower when my pores are most open.  And I know genetics has a lot to do it with it too, so I try not to worry about it too much.

What are my favorite maternity jeans brand? – I have tried almost every brand from designer to H&M, and the one that fits me the best is DL1961.  Sits perfectly on the hip, and the ankle is not baggy all (which is usually the problem with maternity jeans).

What is the one maternity item I splurged on? – Its hard to think of just one item….but I would say it would either be a good fitting pair of jeans and skincare (belly oil and something that works for your changing skin like serum).

Am going to to get epidural? Umm definitely.  I commend people that go without, but I would prefer to not put my body under that much stress if I don’t have to.

How was my breastfeeding experience with my first?  And am I planning to nurse again? – Breastfeeding didn’t come easy for me.  I never really made enough milk at the rate Jaxson was growing and drinking, and I was stressing myself out too much which made me absolutely miserable.  It also made me feel like I was in prison….a slave to pumping and the feeding schedule.  I will try again for #2 at least through flu season, but I will stop if/when it makes my unhappy.  Happy mama equals happy baby, right!

My worse pregnancy symptom? I had a lot of headaches through the better part of the second trimester.  Also, I felt like I was unable to focus…my brain does not function well under all these hormones. ha! Other than that, I felt really good throughout.

My pregnancy diet? – Eat what I feel like and not feel guilty about it…is my diet! I obviously eat nutritious foods an all the good stuff for baby, but I definitely don’t deprive myself of boba drinks or ice cream if I crave it! I also tried to stay pretty active through the 3rd trimester so balance is key.

How do treat my pregnancy skin? – The only concern I have with pregnancy skin is basically discoloration and melasma.  And since anything to treat discloration is off limits when pregnant, I focused on vitamin C products for radiance and powerful moisturizers for hydration. Currently I’m using the Kate Somerville Mega C Dual Radiance Serum and Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Moisturizer.

Where is the best place to shop for maternity styles? – I try to stick to non-maternity clothes whenever I can, but I have bought a few pieces from Pink Blush Maternity and Motherhood Maternity.  Both shops have a great selection of maternity styles and at great price points!
