Shorts & The City

In another life, I am a twenty-something (maybe early thirties ;)) fashionista living in the Big Apple.  Preferbly in the Upper East Side with the likes of Charlotte from Sex in the City and Serena Van Der Woodsen.  I would attend fancy luncheons and shop all day.  And of course, I would live in a fancy brownstone or penthouse with spraling views of Central Park.  Sigh.  A girl can dream right.  Just kidding…I actually wouldn’t trade my life for anything.  But NYC living is certainly tempting.
The last couple days of our New York trip, we actually moved hotels uptown to be closer to Upper East Side and Central Park, and it was so nice to experience a different neighborhood since they are all so distinct in their own right.  We would go for walks around the area and just pretend alittle.  The brownstones are so cute and charming. The streets are so clean and almost glamourous, completely setting itself apart from the rest of the city.  We had brunch at Sarabeth’s two days straight because its that good, and do happy hour at any place with a good view of the Park.  It was definitely one of my best memories from NYC.
There is so much to see in the city and really not enough time.  So I have to be strategic with outfits just in case I had to go from casual to chic with just one look.  Case in point, the day we went to The Met and had a last minute meet-up with local friends for drinks.  Thankfully I was wearing this ensemble – you definitely can’t go wrong an off-the-shoulder top and stripe shorts.  I threw on heels (had it in my bag along with so many other things I thought I needed), and voila! Speaking of these shorts, aren’t they the cutest? I just adore the pleats and the classic black/white stripes. They are from Morning Lavender as part of a collaboration collection curated by Kathleen of Carrie Bradshaw Lied (love her!).  The entire collection is fabulous and I’m currently lusting over this Culotte Jumpsuit, Stripe Lemon print skirt and this little white dress.  Go check it out….run, down walk! And thank me later.
