Spring Bucket List

At the start of every season, we create a list of fun things to do as a family.  Now more than ever, we really try to get out and make the most of our time together.  John does a lot of biz travel the first half of the year, so Spring is usually a crazy time.  But since there are 3 of us now, it is especially important to make time together.  We dream up some things we’d like to do, write them down and plan out real dates.  Otherwise we won’t ever do it.

Some of the ideas on our Spring bucket list are simple and others require more time, but all of them are outdoors since its the perfect time of year {at least in my book} in most places across the country. Here are a few things on our list:

1. Flower Field – I’ve never actually visited a flower field but they are suppose to be amazing.  The Skagit Tulip Festival in Washington is renowned in the US, but there is one close to us in Carlsbad!  We are planning to go in March {I believe that is when is opens}, and I am so excited for the vibrant colors and beautiful array of floral gorgeousness.
2. Go on a Picnic – We don’t do this nearly enough.  We live walking distance to the beach and a couple parks so we have no excuse other than time and laziness.  Honestly, it doesn’t even matter where…could be in your back yard or patio which actually might be nice.  Once you have a child, you start rediscovering the simple joys. They are happy playing with boxes and tissue paper sooo….it doesn’t really have to be fancy.  Jaxson loves being outdoors so it’s totally worth me slapping together a few snacks, grabbing an over-sized blanket, a bottle of wine and just enjoy the fresh air {and maybe the sunset} at least once a month.
3. Jog outdoors – I am trying to get back in running.  Its kinda weird {and lame} but I hate running where I have to stop for traffic, street lights, etc. We have a few trails around my neighborhood, so again, I have no excuse.  My goal is to run outdoors at least twice a week.  We’ll see how it goes…
4. Mustard in Napa –  Mustard blossoms are really a winter thing, but it is around until late March usually. That is the best time for Napa since the temps are starting to increase but the summer crowds are still hibernating.   Its so beautiful to see the normally perfect array of grape vines blanketed with yellow and gold tones.  Makes the vineyards look so vibrant in the colder months.  Also, good wine is a definite bonus there.
5. Visit the zoo – Jaxson love his animals so the San Diego Zoo is at the top of our list.  I’ve never actually been so it will be nice to experience this for the first time along with him.
As for the outfit, off the shoulder is my Spring staple.  This one from Wayf is one of my favorites because its so comfortable.  It is flowy, light and perfect for all my Spring adventures.
